In honor of the late William Einthoven - Dutch doctor and physiologist who invented the first practical electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) in 1903 and received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1924 for it - we give you a look at an early commercial ECG machine, built in 1911 by the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company (Christoph Zywietz, A Brief History of Electrocardiography – Progress through Technology) to measure the human electrocardiogram according to the standards developed by Einthoven.
